Salute ist eine Single von Little Mix. Der Song ist der erste Track auf ihrem gleichnamigem zweitem Album und die dritte Single des Albums.
Hintergrund[]
Bei MailOnline redete Jade über das Lied: "Dies ist unsere Hymne für weibliche Ermächtigung und wir sind wirklich erfreut, dass die Fans es hören können, bevor das Album am Montag herauskommt, da es eins unserer Lieblinge ist." Das Lied wurde von den Mädchen selbst, Maegan Cottone und TMS, die den Track auch produzierten. Das Lied zeigt wie sehr sie sich seit The X Factor verändert haben, so beginnt es mit einer Blitzkrieg Sirene, was überraschend ist, aber im Kontext des Liedes Sinn ergibt. Im Lied heißt es bespielsweise "Ladies all across the world, listen up, we’re looking for recruits / If you’re with me, let me see your hands stand up and salute" ("Alle Damen der Welt, hört uns zu, wir suchen Rekruten / Wenn ihr mit uns seid, steht auf uns salutiert").

Little Mix gaben am 5tem April bekannt, dass Salute die nächste Single sein würden, indem sie ein Video posteten, wo sie für das kommende Musikvideo Tanzschritte üben. Neben dem Video schrieben sie: "SOOO excited to finally reveal that #SaluteIsTheNextLittleMixSingle!! Can’t wait to perform it live! xx Little Mix xx" ("SOOO aufgeregt endlich bekannt zu geben #SaluteIstDieNächsteLittleMixSingle!! Kann es nicht erwarten sie live zu performen! xx Little Mix xx").

Beim Musikvideo des Liedes hat Colin Tilley Regie geführt. Es wurde am 1. Mai auf YouTube veröffentlicht und wurde bis März 2015 über 38 Million Mal angesehen.
Synopsis[]
It features the band dancing in an underground warehouse with an entourage of male dancers, some of whom are on leads. As noted by Kadeen Grifiths of Bustle, band members Nelson and Edwards "even march with the men on leashes at one paint. And yet they are next to her rather than behind her or beneath her, dancing with her rather than against her or in front of her, as if the girls wanted to be clear that men and woman are equal, but it’s the women who are in control right now."
