"Holiday" is a song by Little Mix. It was released on July 24, 2020, as the second single from their sixth album Confetti. An acoustic version of the song was released on August 31, 2020 and appears as the twenty-third track on the Expanded edition of Confetti. A remix by Frank Walker appears as the sixteenth and twenty-second track on the Japanese and Expanded editions of Confetti respectively. Two more remixes by MNEK and 220 KID appear as the twentieth and twenty-first tracks on the Expanded edition of the album.
Background and Release[]
Several lyrics from the song were teased in the background of pictures posted on the group's social media platforms.[1] More teasers were released via GIFs on Instagram. A snippet of the song was released via a custom Instagram quiz filter prior to the song's release. Another snippet was released on the group's official TikTok account.
The title of the song was teased on a Spotify playlist shared by the group on their Twitter account on July 15, 2020 and was confirmed, alongside the release date, on July 16, 2020 on all their social media platforms[2]. On July 16, 2020, several fans were sent a Twitter DM by the group, which teased the name, announcement date and release date of the song, as well as revealing the song to be the second single off the album. The cover art was revealed on July 19, 2020.
Perrie Edwards revealed in an interview that the music video for the song was planned to be recorded in Brazil before lockdown due to the 2019-2020 Coronavirus pandemic. Jesy Nelson also revealed in the same interview that the song's sound would be fitting to when it would be released.[3]
On Apple Music, Perrie said, "We get a lot of inspiration when we go through breakups and personal stuff. And it’s always the easiest thing to write about. We write with the heart and about how you’re feeling emotionally. But for this one, we were just like, ‘Why don’t we write instead about being happy and how a boy can make you feel amazing when he’s the one?’ And it just went from there.”
