Little Mix: The Search is a British reality television music competition, devised by British girl group Little Mix, who will act as judges on the show as well as perform during the live shows. The premise of the show is for Little Mix to form a new band.
Background[]
The show was announced in October 2019, when applications for the show were opened. The winner of the show would become an opening act for Little Mix's Summer 2020 Tour. This was later changed to the Confetti Tour after the former tour was cancelled due to the 2019-2020 Coronavirus pandemic. The application process closed on January 10, 2020, with filming commencing later that month. Chris Ramsey was announced to host the show. The series was initially set to be filmed and aired in April 2020 but was pushed back due to the 2019-2020 Coronavirus pandemic.
It was announced on July 20, 2020 via the group's social media platforms that the show will begin airing on BBC One in August 2020.[1] This was later delayed to September. The first live-show, set to premiere October 17th, 2020, was postponed to the following weekend, the 24th, because many members of the crew tested positive for the Coronavirus. This included Matthew and Patrick of Since September along with one of Since September's camera-men, members from two of the other bands, and Jade Thirlwall, resulting in her having to do the episode from home. The Semi-Final was postponed on October 31, 2020 due to an emergency press conference by the then Prime Minister Boris Johnson, with the episode airing the following week prior to The Final.
